Secure, efficient, and fully digital management of military movements
The Secure Digital Military Mobility System (SDMMS) is a comprehensive digital solution facilitating the exchange of information on military mobility in an efficient, secure, and timely manner.
After the Cold War the European Union was mostly safe and prosperous. But recent events, like policing the Baltic EU member states, the Ukraine conflict in 2014 and 2022, the refugee crisis from Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, and Africa, and the 2021 Belarus-EU border crisis highlighted the need for quick and efficient cross-border mobility for EU Forces.
SDMMS WILL MODERNIZE
EU MILITARY MOBILITY
The SDMMS project aims to create a new digital system that makes it faster and easier for military forces to get approval for moving between EU member-states and NATO states. This system will reduce the time it takes to process permits, customs forms, and other related documents from around 6 weeks to just 5 working days.
A group of 11 organizations from 10 European Union countries (Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Poland, the Netherlands and Romania) and one Associated country, Norway, have come together to make this initiative happen.
CO-FUNDED BY THE
EUROPEAN DEFENCE FUND
The European Defence Fund (EDF) started in 2021 to strengthen Europe's defense industryand make it more competitive and innovative. It helps countries work together and support cooperation between different organizations like enterprises, research centers, and universities in developing defense products and technologies. The ultimate goal is to boost the Union's strategic autonomy in the defense sector.
